Relevant aspects of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal

November 27th is the feast of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal. She is the intermediary to achieve the fulfillment of favors, especially the great and impossible ones. There are many saints who have turned to her intercession, obtaining abundant graces through the Miraculous Medal.  One of them was St. Maximilian. He had great confidence in their help and obtained many fruits thanks to their mediation. He himself tells about it in 1922: "With all my heart I express my gratitude to the Blessed Virgin Mary for the completely unexpected conversion of Mr. N. He was very educated, but weak in faith, and claimed that he needed clearer arguments in order to believe, and he confessed himself a heretic. A member of the Militia of the Immaculate [surely the same Fr. Kolbe] lent him a good book, which did not interest him very much; he then offered him a "Miraculous Medal". The same day that person, in a really unexpected way, made a sincere confession that ended in tears. Glory to the Immaculate!". St. Maximilian had many experiences like this one. Let us renew our commitment to distribute with faith and love, the more medals the better, and glory to the Immaculate! http://www.arguments.es/wp-content/uploads/santo-de-hoy/2018/11/FIESTA-DE-LA-MEDALLA-MILAGROSA-CAPILLA-DE-LA-CALLE-RUA-DU-BAC-EN-PARÍS-DONDE-FUERON-LAS-APARICIÓNES-A-SANTA-CATALINA-LOBOURÉ-MENSAJESDEDIOSALMUNDO.BLOGSPOT-279x300.jpg" alt="" width="600" height="646" />

Some miracles attributed to his intercession

A. "Prayers work. You just have to ask in faith."

My husband was addicted to drugs and that's why he ended up in jail. At first I didn't know whether to stay with him or make my own life. His problems aside, he was always a great husband and a wonderful father to our daughters. I started praying to Our Lady and many saints. Through prayer, my heart became strong and I wanted to fight for my marriage. My husband found the legal support he needed, and he was released sooner than expected to be with his family and heal. I will always be grateful to the Virgin Mary for all her love and intercession to save our marriage and keep our family together. Our marriage is much stronger than before these trials. I recommend everyone to trust in God and Our Lady. Prayers work. You just have to ask in faith.

B. "The burdens of my life have become less heavy."

I have suffered from depression and anxiety for many years, which causes me many ups and downs. Now that I am wearing a Miraculous Medal, I feel that things don't bother me as much as they used to. I don't put pressure on myself and let God decide. Through Our Lady's healing intercession, I feel that the burdens of my life have become lighter. I thank Our Lady.

C. "He was going to have heart surgery, but thanks to the intercession of the Miraculous Medal, it was not necessary."

My sister had to be taken to the emergency hospital on a Tuesday night. The doctors checked her and told us that she had to have heart surgery or a heart vein transplant. I prayed with my sister and together we said the healing prayer and I anointed her with Our Lady's blessed oil. We were very surprised when on Thursday morning my sister was discharged without any surgery. I consider this a miracle of intercession of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal and a testimony to the power of faith.

D. "Our Lady imposes herself in New York".

On October 31, 2012, the front page of the Wall Street Journal carried the following story:"a huge statue of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal stands intact amid the destruction in the Breezy Point neighborhood of Queens, New York, on Tuesday. The fire destroyed at least 80 homes there where Hurricane Sandy struck the beachfront community". David Carmona, of the Paulines of Saragossa, echoed this news and reflected on it in his article web: "This is how Our Lady remained intact in a New York neighborhood after Hurricane Sandy. The famous image of Our Lady of Lightning that appears on the miraculous medal, with the world under her feet... Could it be that so much devastation could have been avoided if she had been asked for the graces she wanted to give us? Could it be that this is why the image has no lightning, that is, that no one remembered Our Lady and no one asked her for the graces she came to give, and that is why no lightning came out of her hands?"

Meaning and elements of the Miraculous Medal

The Miraculous Medal is in itself a treatise of Theology that can be unraveled with simplicity, since we know the elements that form it and its meaning: http://www.arguments.es/wp-content/uploads/santo-de-hoy/2018/11/Medalla-Milagrosa--300x213.jpg" alt="" width="550" height="390" />

  1. First, the shape of the medal is not common. It could be simply round, but it is oval: it is shaped like an oval. protective shield.
  2. The obverse represents Mary standingwith open hands, pouring out their graces in abundance, as if they were Universal Mediatrix, Mediatrix of intercession and Mediator of all the graces. At his feet, the ancient serpent whose head he steps onThe first pages of the Bible, the so-called "Proto-Gospel": God promised that the Woman would step on the head of the devil while he was trying to bite her heel. He put enmity between His lineage and her lineage.
  3. The words of an invocation that is revealing in many ways surround Our Lady: "O Mary, conceived without sin...!". We are in 1830, and it will not be until 1854 when Pius IX proclaims the Dogma of Immaculate Conceptionand Our Lady herself confirmed this at Lourdes before Bernadette Soubirou. God, through the anticipated merits of Our Lord Jesus Christ, prevented Mary from original sin at the moment of her conception, in order to avoid the slightest contact of Jesus with the devil even in the womb of his Mother.
  4. The back of the Medal shows a large "M" for Mary crowned by the cross. Mary is the one who brings Jesus to us. Through her humble fiat, the Son of God was able to be born and raised above the earth, thus drawing all to Himself.
  5. That the Redeemer and his Mother are united in the common work of our salvation is also evident in the two aching hearts at the feet of the big "M".. Mary's, pierced by a sword as prophesied by Simeon when she presented her Son in the Temple, shows us her quality of Coredemptrix: when Christ's side was pierced on the Cross, it was Mary who bled.
  6. Finally, the last Marian revelation of the Sacred Scriptures is also consigned in the Medal: the twelve stars with which St. John observes crowned Woman clothed with the sun and with the moon under her feet. The Medal runs through the whole Bible, all of History, and in the midst of it, we, Mary's lineage, are in it.

History of apparitions to Sister Catherine Labouré of the Miraculous Medal

For details, there is no one like Sister Catalina herself, who describes them as follows: "It was no later than 11:30 p.m. when I heard my name being called: "Sister, Sister, Sister. Sister, Sister. I woke up; I looked on the side where the voice was coming from. I drew back the curtain; and I saw a little boy, about five years old, dressed in white; and so he said to me: "Come to the chapel, Our Lady is waiting for you there". Reassured by him, I hurried to get dressed; and I followed him... My surprise was not small, seeing everything illuminated; but my surprise grew even greater at the brightness of the chapel. It reminded me of the Christmas Mass. However, the presence of the Virgin was nowhere to be seen. Kneeling down, I was waiting for a long time. The fear of being discovered increased. The hour arrived. And the child warned me with these words: "Look, there you have the Blessed Virgin". I noticed as if silks were brushing against the side of the Gospel, on an armchair that was there. It was the Virgin, who offered herself to me seated. I think it is impossible to describe what I saw and what was happening in me: something like a fear of being deceived; and that the one whom I saw was not the Blessed Virgin. However, my guardian angel - who was none other than the child - rebuked me somewhat severely and without hesitation, I knelt down next to her and placed my hands in her lap". And there, hand in hand, as from Mother to daughter, "I want, my daughter," she said to me, "to appoint you as my ambassador. You will suffer not a little, but you will overcome, thinking to be all for the glory of God. With simplicity and trust, say what you understand and see". Prudent, the Sister asked for a pledge of what she had seen and heard. The Lady gave her a pledge, which she fulfilled. The Sister prophesied. Soon and when least expected, her prophecies were fulfilled. The matter was in the midst of these events, which accredited the mission of Sister Catherine Labouré, when the Virgin Mary was good enough to let herself be seen again on the afternoon of November 27th of the same year. Let us give the floor to Sister Catalina: I saw the Blessed Virgin in all the splendor of her beauty. Undefeatable to the human lip. . . . Her figure bathed in light. Her feet rested on a half sphere .... In her hands, at the height of her chest, another smaller sphere. Lifting my eyes to Heaven, I noticed how his fingers had rings, from which small beams of light were emanating..... Seeing this, I heard a voice that said to me: "Figure the globe to the whole world and to each and every mortal." "They are the rays symbol of how many graces I will grant to those who ask me for them." The Sister was enjoying what she had already seen, when at once - she continues - she made around the Blessed Virgin in the form of an oval with these words, in gold characters: "O Mary conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to You!" The vision turned and the Sister noticed a letter M and above it a Cross resting on a bar. Below it, the Heart of Jesus crowned with thorns and the Heart of Mary pierced with a sword, and all surrounded by twelve stars. At the same time a voice was heard saying: "Coin a medal according to the model. Those who wear it will receive untold graces... Wear it with complete confidence."

Prayers to the Virgin of the Miraculous Medal:

1) Prayer of Consecration to the Miraculous Medal

Prostrate before your worship, O Virgin of the Miraculous Medal, and after greeting you in the august mystery of your spotless conception, I choose you, from now on forever, as my Mother, Advocate, Queen and Mistress of all my actions and Protector before the majesty of God. I promise you, most pure virgin, never to forget you, neither your worship nor the interests of your glory, while I also promise to promote your love in those around me. Receive me, tender Mother, from this moment and be for me a refuge in this life and a support at the hour of death. Amen

2) Prayer to Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal for major favors

Your Medal, O Mary, is a pledge of protection. The prodigious Medal owes its beginning and origin to you, most pure Virgin, in a blessed vision. Therefore, everyone desires to acquire it. Your Medal, O Mary! is a pledge of protection, the brilliant gleams that your hands give off are the graces that traveling men receive from you. Who is the one who does not trust when he sees such a demonstration? Your Medal, O Mary, is a pledge of protection. Who can sing, Our Lady, of the wonders you have done for those who carry the Medal on their breast and implore you? Let us wear it night and day with tender veneration. Your Medal, O Mary, is a pledge of protection. The lightning, the storm, the inevitable contagion, flee quickly from this admirable medal. The virtue that deflects them is that of your intercession. Your Medal, O Mary, is a pledge of protection. The sick who are hopelessly ill seek health in the Medal with solicitude, and are not disappointed; Healthy, full of joy, they say with devotion: Your Medal, O Mary, is a pledge of protection. The men most obstinate in impiety and in the vice of the eternal precipice have been freed with it, for through you, Sweet Mary, they have achieved their conversion. Your Medal, O Mary, is a pledge of protection. Mother in grace conceived, pray Lady for us who have recourse to You in such a miserable life; Show Yourself clement and mercy now and on every occasion. (Make the request). Your Medal, O Mary, is a pledge of protection.
